a p p e a r a n c e ;
Rei is frighteningly pale, almost as if she hasn't seen sun in years. At barely over five feet tall, she's thin and frail looking, but if one were to look closer they would see lithe, atheltic muscles. Rei is a very plain girl when it comes to looks... save for her coloring.

Her hair is a powder blue in color and cut in a boyish style, coming to rest at her ears. Rei’s eyes are a bright red that can look a little frightening with her pale skin. She often looks as if she's in her own little world, but more often than not it's a carefully placed look of disinterest, even if she is, in fact, interested. It takes a lot for her to show any emotion.

When not in her skintight black and white plug suit, she’s usually in her school uniform. Rei cares little about her appearance or what she wears.

h i s t o r y ;
Rei’s past is shrouded in mystery. How and why she was created is a blank – Gendo Ikari is obviously responsible for it. Rei is in fact a clone of his dead wife, Yui, born in the NERV HQ. It is unknown whether she was created simply to be a dummy plug or to unite Gendo with his wife.

She’s mostly flesh and bone, created from the salvaged remains of Yui, but not something that came from a woman’s womb – merely a soul put into a flesh shell. Gendo Ikari took care of Rei as she grew up. She was an intelligent little girl, but once slipped up when talking to Dr. Naoko Akagi, telling her how Gendo had called her useless and an old hag. She was strangled by Naoko before she took her own life, but her soul and memories were transferred to another clone, and she went on as if nothing had happened.

Rei became the First Child and the pilot of Eva 00. It took Rei many months, but she was able to synchronize with the EVA, and proved to be an impressive and skilled warrior. She never worried about death – she could always be replaced.

During the activation test for her Eva, she was trapped in the entry plug and nearly killed. The EVA had gone berserk. Gendo saved her, and she kept his melted glasses as a momento.

p e r s o n a l i t y ;
Most rocks have more personality than Rei. She doesn’t care about what others think of her, nor does she make an effort to become friends with people around her. Withdrawn is an understatement. Being alone doesn’t bother her in the least. She prefers it that way.

She’s very devoted to whatever she does, be it school or war. She’s the type of girl that doesn’t speak unless spoken to. Serious and distant, some people see her as arrogant and emotionless, but Rei is actually kind and modest at heart. Sometimes emotions confuse her, so she meets most things with a blank, detached look. Most people never see what she’s thinking.

While she does seem like some robot, Rei dislikes the color red and meat. It reminds her of blood. An odd quirk to such a stoic girl.

Yet Rei has her faults. She can be far too obedient to those who have gained her loyalty. Her greatest fear is that she’ll become useless. She will willingly do things that could result in her death. Her life is devoted to fighting, and she puts her all into it, leaving little room for relationships. Death holds no fear for her - she is always in the state of mind that she can be replaced.
